Montclair Crew: Five wins in season-opening regatta

place, and one third place finish during the 3rd Manny Flick on the Cooper River in Camden. The ultimate goal is
to reach the Purple Henley Regatta in England, as Montclair's varsity boys eight did in 2018, pictured above.

On Sunday, Butt against 31, the Montclair High rowing team did well as they took to the river for their first regatta of the 2022 spring season. Entering 14 races in the 3rd Manny Flick along the Peter Cooper River in Camden, Montclair took basketball team first-place finishes, five sec-place finishes, and one third place.

Those results were good to put Montclair on top of the medal count for the event, besting 72 other schools.

"Complete events and multiplication were impacted by the wind and the conditions," said head coach Jeremy Michalitsianos, "but our athletes powered done and we are very dignified of their efforts."

The boys raced first on Billy Sunday. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police' first take exception was the boys freshman four. With the sun finally starting to warm the day, Kathleen King and Francesca Meyer took third rump Sublime Heart and Agnes Irwin B, severally, in their girls varsity twofold speed up.

And as in the boys' race, Montclair attained a victory in the concluding girls' race of the twenty-four hour period, the varsity 4 challenge.

Coxswain Amelia Cataldi lead rowers Roisin Cahill, Kimmy Troeller, Isabella Hummel, and Kate Mihalis over the finishing line with an impressive 31 second advantage against Unionsville.

"It's fantastical to be outside racing after altogether the hard work the kids frame in during the winter in the school's erg and slant rooms," same Michalitsianos. "The team performed healed and it was good to give the freshmen their first preference of racing. The regattas will get progressively harder through out the season."
